EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that supports clients in processing triggering and stressful memories by engaging in bilateral stimulation (often using eye movements or tapping). Bilateral stimulation is associated with a reduction in the intensity of the emotions associated with the distressing memories.

EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing memories and does not focus on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors, but instead allows the brain to resume its natural healing process.

EMDR therapy is for people of all ages (children and adults) and is used for a variety of concerns such as anxiety, depression, OCD, grief, PTSD, substance use and addiction, and many more.

Benefits of EMDR Include:

  • Can reduce distress associated with traumatic memories.

  • Can improve self-esteem and overall self-perception.

  • Can reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.

  • Works holistically, viewing the mind and body as interconnected, addressing both the psychological and physiological effects of distressing experiences and memories.
